Tips For Overseeding An Existing Lawn With Pearl's Premium

  • Cut your lawn extremely short and surface rake away clippings.  Do not de-thatch in spring.
  • Pearl's Premium generally outcompetes the old lawn and weeds.  However, if you are starting with a lawn that is full of weeds, we recommend using Phydura, an all natural organic product http://www.PearlsPremium.com/product/phydura-organic-grass-and-weed-killer-25-gallon-concentrate that will kill the old lawn and allow you to plant Pearl's Premium just 3 days later.
  • Test your soil and correct it using sulfer or lime for an ideal pH between 6.0-7.0.  Garden centers sell inexpensive test kits.
  • Core aerate to loosen the soil and bring air and water to the roots.
  • Spread a small amount (1/4") of organic compost, or twice a year use organic fertilizer.  For a choice of organic fertilizers, check out the many options of our partners at http://NeptunesHarvest.com, http://www.GreenEarthAgAndTurf.com.
  • Water every day in the morning for a month.  If the weather is hot, water again at 2 pm.  Then cut back on the water over the next couple of weeks.
  • If never cut, Pearl's Premium leans over to become a 3-4 inch "no mow" meadow.
